Product Rejections



If your product(s) were rejected during the Product Screening Process, you can find the reason for your rejection by locating the product on the Products page on Gateway. Once you've found the listing, you can view the rejection reason by hovering your cursor over the red “Rejected” box next to your product name. 



Below, we've provided a list of common rejection reasons, and instructions for fixing these issues. Use your browser's search tool to quickly scan this document for the rejection reason you'd like to fix.



 Account Status/Merchant Onboarding



Merchant Onboarding is incomplete.

  • Problem: Your product was submitted into the Product Screening Process before you finished activating your account.

    • Solution: Complete your Gateway Account Setup, then allow 72 hours for your listing to manually re-enter Product Screening.



Pricing, Ratings, and Data Validation


Universal ID is missing

  • Problem: Your product doesn't have a valid Product Identifier (and Product Identifier Type)

    • Solution: Add Product ID (and Product ID type)


Category is missing

  • Problem: Your product does not have a category

    • Solution: Assign a Category ID to your product using the category field in Gateway UI or using the bulk upload tool.


Option's variants duplicate another option's

  • Problem: One of your product options has the same attributes as another option.

    • Solution: Identify which product option has duplicate attributes and assign the correct attributes to that option.


Manufacturer is missing

  • Problem: The manufacturer field in your product is empty

    • Solution: Add product manufacturer


At least one product in this multi-variation product group has no attributes

  • Problem: The product does not have any attributes associated with it

    • Solution: Ensure that all products have at least one attribute assigned


Refurbished products can not be listed for this category.

  • Problem: This product is listed as "refurbished" in a category that does not allow refurbished products

    • Solution: Move product to a category that allows refurbished products; Groupon may not be allow refurbished products of this type.


Product Group must have at least one image.


Cost must be greater than 0

  • Problem: Unit Price value is 0

    • Solution: Change Unit Price value to a number larger than 0


At least one products in this multi-variation product group has no attributes

  • Problem: There is one or more products in the group that does not have any attributes

    • Solution: Add at least one attributes to all products


Product requires manual approval


Market ratings too low for this product

  • Problem: The quality on your product is below Groupon standards

    • Solution: No solution; This product cannot be sold on Groupon


The product group has too many products (max of 80).

  • Problem: The product group has more than 80 products in the group, which cannot be processed by the system.

    • Solution: Split the product group into multiple groups using the bulk upload and Variation Grouping ID.



Content Issues


Content rejections occur when a product is missing or has incorrect information, such as title, description, category, brand, attributes, warranty information, or images.


Title & Description


Remove website, email, or phone number from description

  • Problem: Supplier website addresses, email addresses, phone numbers are prohibited

    • Solution: Remove from the description


Remove references to competitors

  • Problem: Competitor references are prohibited

    • Solution: Remove references


Remove exaggerated/unsubstantiated claim from the description

  • Problem: Unsubstantiated, exaggerated claims, such as "Best product ever" are prohibited

    • Solution: Remove from the description


Remove unrelated brands or products from description

  • Problem: Unrelated brands, keywords, or products in description

    • Solution: Remove from description


The Deal title and URL permalink must match.

  • Problem: Your product listing cannot be overwritten with new offers and/or details. 

    • Solution: You must create a new product listing for the new offer and change this listing back to its original details. 


Remove invalid characters or excessive typos from title or description

  • Problem: Invalid characters or excessive typos are used in the title and/or product description 

    • Solution: Remove from title or description


Remove excessive caps lock from title or description

  • Problem: Excessive caps in the title and/or product description 

    • Solution: Remove from title or description


Remove graphic descriptions or slang words from title or description

  • Problem: Description violates Adult product guidelines

    • Solution: Remove from title of description


Adjust title to include a clear description of the item

  • Problem: Title does not have proper information that describes the item

    • Solution: Change title to properly describe product group


Adjust description to include a clear description of the item

  • Problem: Description does not have proper or good information that describes the item or what it is used for

    • Solution: Change description to properly describe product group


Title and description do not match

  • Problem: Information in the title and the description do not match

    • Solution: Adjust title or description to match one another


Remove vague language from description

  • Problem: No cliches or vague language

    • Solution: Remove from the description


Add list of included items

  • Problem: Product is set or pack of different colors/items but is missing a list of all included items

    • Solution. Add information about all products in the product group to the description, bullet points, or what's in the box section


Remove personalization language

  • Problem: 

    • Solution: Remove language

Category

This product does not fit into the selected category.  Correct category: [insert MRT]

    This product does not exist in our retail catalog. 

  • Problem: a section for this item that does not currently exist in our retail catalog.

    • Solution: Please contact the Merchant Success Team for further assistance.

Brand

Adjust brand field to correct brand

  • Problem: Wrong brand is associated with the product

    • Solution: Change brand to match the product


    This product does not exist in our retail catalog. 

  • Problem: a section for this item that does not currently exist in our retail catalog.

    • Solution: Please contact the Merchant Success Team for further assistance.

    The "Brand Name" used is not correct/relevant to the image or product description.

  • Problem: the "Brand Name" used on this offer is not correct/relevant to the product imaged or described.      

    • Solution:  Update the Brand to the correct brand of the product.

    Please remove unrelated brands or product comparisons from the deal. 

  • Problem: Keyword or brand spamming is prohibited. Unrelated brands, keywords, or products in description or title to throw off search results,

    • Solution:  You must remove unrelated brands or products comparison from the description/title.


Warranty


Provide a link to warranty/image of warranty or remove warranty mention

  • Problem: Verification for warranty missing

    • Solution: Add missing warranty information. All warranty fields must be filled in order to claim a warranty on a product.



Attributes


The variations on this listing are incorrectly set up and/or missing information.  

  • Problem: The variations provided on this listing are incorrectly set up and/or missing information. Update listing with the correct unique variant information

    • Solution: Add product attributes or change to match product descriptions. Please also check that your attributes are consistent across all options in a Product Group. For example, with the Sizing Chart attribute, you cannot upload a file for some options and list custom text for others in the same Product Group. All option attributes must be consistent. Additionally, you cannot list a Sizing Chart for one option and leave it blank for another option in the same Product Group.


Images

Connect images to correct variations

  • Problem: Product missing image variations/incorrectly set up

    • Solution: Change product image assignments to match correct products


Combine this product with other connected products

  • Problem: Multiple options presented as different deals

    • Solution: Combine similar products (such as color or size variations) into the same product group


Separate variants into multiple products

  • Problem: Multiple products incorrectly grouped in the same variation group

    • Solution: Separate products that are dissimilar (not variations of one another) into separate product groups


Add images for all variations

  • Problem: Image is absent

    • Solution: Provide image for product


Adjust images to match title and description

  • Problem: Image does not match product description and/or title

    • Solution: Add and assign correct images for products in the product group


Remove inappropriate images

  • Problem: Image is inappropriate or violates Adult product guidelines

    • Solution: Delete images and replace them with appropriate images


Provide higher quality images

  • Problem: Images are blurry, pixelated, or low quality

    • Solution: Replace existing images with higher-quality images


Remove text from images

  • Problem: Text on Images is prohibited unless it serves some specific & reasonable purpose (eg. test on product box, warranty text document, or sizing text on image) 

    • Solution: Replace existing images with text-free images


Poorly Composite Image should appear grounded or on the same plane

  • Problem: Composite images should be placed on a unified background color with no noticeable lines or gradients. Products in composite images should appear grounded or on the same plane, should fill the template, and be in proportion to each other and their environment.
    • Solution: Correct the composite image to meet the above requirements or break down the composite image into two and upload them as separate images.


Remove trademarks or logos from images

  • Problem: Image has unnecessary trademarks and/or logos

    • Solution: Replace existing images with trademark/logo-free images



Buyer Review


Launch Pending Buyer Approval

  • Problem: In an effort to improve customer experience, we have added another layer to new merchant deal launches which now includes a buyer approval process. This rejection reason indicates that your deal is pending buyer approval. 

    • Solution: If the buying team approves your deal, it will go live shortly. If the buying team rejects your deal, the deal will not go live.


Buyer has rejected this listing as it does not fit our assortment

  • Problem: This deal was rejected by our buying team as it does not fit into our assortment at this time. 

    • Solution: No solution as the deal will not go live and will remain rejected as a result of not fitting into our assortment.



Customer Engagement


Rejected due to poor customer engagement

  • Problem: This rejection reason indicates that the deal was getting a lot of traffic, but not a lot of sales. Ultimately, this was causing a negative customer experience.

    • Solution: You can reach out to your primary buyer if you'd like to discuss reinstating a deal rejected for this reason.
