Attributes Inform the customer about the product they are considering for purchase, help customers to find the product in search, and can have a large impact on the customer’s ability to navigate your deal pages. This is because the attributes you enter during deal setup appear in the drop down sections of your deal page, and if they appear in a way that is confusing to customers, it can affect sales.

All product groups must contain the same (consistent) attributes for both distinguishing and supplementary attributes regardless of attribute being required or not.

Any product groups not that do not contain consistent attributes for all options will reflect an error stating “attributes have inconsistent attributes.”

You will see this error if:

Scenario #1. The number of attributes do not match in each option

Scenario #2. The number of attributes in each option is the same, but the attributes do not match

Scenario #3. A product group or option contains a retired attribute

Scenario #1: The number of attributes don’t match for each option:

In order to resolve this issue, look within the product group in the UI or the bulk catalog to see which option might be missing an attribute by counting the number of attributes for each option before clicking into any options.

UI Example: By counting the number of attributes for each option before clicking into any options.

In the below example The top option has 6 attributes while the bottom has 7.

Bulk Example: Another way to determine if there is an attribute missing is to pull your catalog and look for that particular product group. In the attributes section, you should be able to see if the attributes are inconsistent or not. If they are inconsistent, input the missing values and re-upload the bulk file.

Example: the below highlighted line is missing attribute 7

You can confirm this by looking into UI and you will notice that Material is not filled out for this option.

Scenario #2: The number of attributes is the same but the attributes don’t match

Each option has 5 attributes, however the last attribute in each option is not the same.

When you edit each option you can see one has the attribute of “fitted sheet pocket depth” filled in while the other option has “Pack Size” filled in. This can be adjust right here in the UI. Either fill in the same attributes for both options, or remove any that aren’t necessary.

Scenario #3: A product group or option contains a retired attribute (A retired attribute is an attribute that no longer exists in the UI so you cannot make changes to it, Vendors can only delete via bulk upload)

When you look at your catalog catalog (searching by the variation group id found on your product page) you can see the attributes that should be deleted.

Delete the attribute that doesn’t exist on all options, and upload your catalog without changing anything else, especially the variation group id. Once updated via bulk, the error message in the product group will be cleared.
