Grouping and Ungrouping Product in your Catalog

If you have products in separate product groups that should be in the same product group, you can use the bulk update tool to combine them. Since products are grouped together by Variation Grouping ID, the ID can be changed (or added) in order to put products in the same group.

Step One

The Bulk Upload Template can be downloaded by clicking on the Download Generic Third-Party Template Export on the Bulk Upload page

~ Or you can Export your existing data by clicking on the button marked "Full Catalog". The file may take a few time to export depending on the size of your catalog.

Open the downloaded file in Excel.

When editing. CSVs, Excel will automatically attempt to format the figures in your UPC column in Scientific Notation. To prevent errors, convert format to "NUMBER" or "TEXT" if there are any leading zeros

Step Two

Consolidating Existing Products into the Same Product Group

Add the products that you would like to group together into one Product Group, Find the Variation Grouping ID field for all products and change (or add) them so that they are the same value

NOTE: Make sure that the Variation Grouping ID is not taken by any other product group, or those products will go into the incorrect product group.

Be sure that all fields listed are the same for every product in the group.

NOTE: If creating a Product Group with multiple Products in it, keep in mind that each individual product will be screened individually. This means that you may face a situation where your listing has gone live, but some variant offerings are temporarily missing from your deal page.

Separate Group Products into Individual Product Deals

Add the products that you would like to group together into one Product Group, Find the Variation Grouping ID field for all products and change (or add) them so that they are the different values

NOTE: Make sure that the Variation Grouping ID is not taken by any other product group, or those products will go into the incorrect product group.

Be sure that all fields listed are updated to be listed separately since the products are no longer going to be grouped together.

NOTE:  Understand that in Marketplace Product Identifiers cannot be shared between product Groups. Please keep this in mind when planning your grouping, Collections cannot be set up and sold at the same time as the separate listings sharing the UPC one of the deals will fail data validation and fall offline.

Step Three

After you have made your changes, save the file (as a .csv) and re-upload your catalog using the Bulk Upload tool.
